  Sound is a critical aspect of creating a short film, as it can help to enhance the mood and atmosphere of a scene. As a sound designer on a recent short film project, I had the opportunity to create and mix the sound for the film. The first step in creating sound for the film was to review the footage and identify the sounds that would be needed to bring the scene to life. This involved paying close attention to the details of the scene, including the location, time of day, and the emotions of the characters. I then used various sound libraries and recorded my own sound effects to create a library of sounds that could be used in the film. In addition to sound effects, I also created and mixed the dialogue for the film. This involved working with the actors to record their lines in a studio, then cleaning up and editing the audio to make it sound as natural as possible. Editing is an essential aspect of creating a short film, and I had the opportunity to work as an editor on a recent project. My role involved selecting the best shots and piecing them together in a cohesive manner to tell a compelling story. Before the editing process began, I worked closely with the group to understand their vision for the film. We discussed the desired tone, pacing, and style of the film, and I kept these factors in mind while selecting and arranging the footage. I started by organizing and labeling all the footage, so I could easily locate and use it later in the editing process. Assembling a rough cut was the next step, and I spent a significant amount of time selecting the best takes and arranging them in a logical sequence.  Filming the scenes was not as easy as it seemed. Originally I thought within the hour my group and I would be complete. Instead, the evil film had its own plans. I hoped that we could take each scene in one try with a couple extra backups, but instead it did not work like that. At first, we all had different mindsets on how each of the scenes would turn out. It was necessary to discuss our hopes and dreams for the outcome of the film. I personally had different ideas that I wanted to bring to my groupmates' minds. This included us being angry prior to the filming to truly get the angry sense. Luckily my groupmates were on board and it worked out successfully. After all of us comprehended each other we eventually started to receive good films. The outcomes we continued to get are what we initially hoped for.  As the days continue to pass I truly understand how little time is left. At this moment there is less than a month left to produce our final project. We are only somewhat done and need to be working at a pace. Due to this, I have decided that some of my after-school activities might need to be missed. I am on the tennis and football teams and have practices that overlap almost every day. This is a huge commitment for me. As well as being special and enjoyable for me to do after school. Since this project is a major concern on time I have decided to ask my coaches for a few potential practices off. Both sports are very keen on attendance and etiquette. Therefore, by letting my coaches know I will be missing practice I am excused from the missed practices. Filming is not the only hard part of the project.  After having a useful team bonding day, today was different. The wheater was perfect for filming so I took advantage. At around 10:30 ish I was the first to arrive at the park. Since I live close to our film location, I thought it would be important to claim a spot before other people show up. Luckily there were lots of open fields and no one was going to get in our way. After 15 minutes, the rest of the group showed up, and we were ready to begin. At first, we were nervous and kept messing up. I realized we were trying maybe a little too hard and it seemed forced. In an attempt to fix these mistakes, I suggested that perhaps we play some football and soccer to get our minds off filming. This idea was a major success because after 20 minutes of playing, we were ready to film and the changes were evident.  Today I was very excited to get our first part of filming done. Instead of our original plan of going to the park to film, I was interrupted by mother nature. The weather did not like the idea of my group and I trying to get our work done so it decided to rain. Throughout our entire video close to every scene must be outdoors so the rain did affect us heavily. Luckily I knew this was a possibility when it came time to film so we went with our backup strategy. The strategy consisted of us continuously practicing our lines indoors and making sure the lines and conversation flowed naturally. One of the worst things to do in a film is to have bad acting or make it seem forced. So dedicating a day to practicing the lines will have a huge impact on the final product. After filming last year, I wish I could go back in time so that I could have practiced my lines before we filmed.
